Story: Bank Robber Note
Robbing a bank can lead to a lifetime of trouble, but not always. It's all forgotten in the end.
PART ONE
He couldn’t sleep. Couldn’t get her out of his mind. Finally, he rose in the dark, turned on a lamp, took pen in hand and wrote this note:
I know this is weird but I am the guy who robbed your bank two weeks ago ago, and I saw your name tag and remember you as being nice and calm and I liked that and felt we were on a similar plane, and I’m sorry if I frightened you. I found your address and have mailed you this note (another bank robber note) to see if you would like to meet sometime. I walked out with over $1,200 from the bank that day so I can cover the cost for coffee or lunch or a drink if you want but I don’t imbibe anymore. If you are up for meeting I will tell you more about my situation which I think you will find fascinating. I am not crazy and if I was I’d tell you. We can meet in a public place. Please don’t tell the cops but I leave that up to you. I will give you my name when we meet. I have a birth certificate and an ID. If your answer is YES write it on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope marked ANSWER and seal it and put it in that red book library next to that big tree in front of the blue house a block away from you (your side of street).
P.S. If there are any gramatical or spelling errors in my message please cut me some slack. I was evicted from school a tragedy of injustice.
PART TWO
He couldn’t sleep. Couldn’t get her out of his mind. Finally, he rose in the dark, turned on a lamp, took pen in hand and wrote this note:
I know this is weird but I am the guy who robbed your bank fifty-one years ago. I saw your figure next to mine in bed, and since I feel lucid and can’t sleep, I rose and wrote these words. I don’t speak very well now (as you know), and at this moment while I can, I want to say I owe you my life and would not be alive today if not for you. If you had not accepted my date offered a half century or so ago, shortly after I robbed your bank, I wouldn’t exist. You took a chance on me, saved me, and I love you now more than ever. And yes, I know that today is the anniversary of the day I robbed your bank and you stole my heart, exactly 51 years ago, and I know we got married one year later to the same day. That still blows my mind. Happy 50 years, my dear (insert your name here – haha - it escapes me for the moment - or am I just being funny). Tomorrow, if I act like I don’t remember your name or have a clue who you are, remember I might be joking. Don’t worry, I am still here, loving you, laughing with you, trying to steal more time with you.
