Poem: Rack 'em up, again
We want our kids to achieve success, but sometimes we gotta suffer in the process.
Rack ‘em up again
Our offspring to
surpass us, that’s
what we hope for,
and while I second
the notion, I must
admit seeing our lass
drop a sweet bank on
the 8-ball to beat me,
again, trice in a row,
irks me greatly and I
admonish myself for
blowing the easy cut
on the three, giving her
opportunity to surpass
me after my run of four,
solid shots all, and while
I don’t actually hope she
misses, I shed not a tear
when she does. But this
time she doesn’t. Egad!
So I rack ‘em up, again.
Sorta bad I do feel about
our child taking this cue
from her old, gamey dad.
The tables have turned,
I now hope to surpass
her as she whips my ass.
Yeah, that’s rough, Tom! My daughter is only six, but already I can see that she’s soon to surpass me in a couple of areas. Ultimately it’s the best thing to see, but it’s also nice to win one every now and again while we still can. :)
